i am new to outlook. how do i add a folder without doing so in hotmail? also
what does the little number mean beside some folders in outlook (folders i
created)? how do i receive awnsers to this questions?

You can add a folder with File | New | Folder. The numbers generally
indicate the number of unread items contained in that folder.
