What is this Outlook connector 12.1 that the tech told me about
downloading
because I had a free hotmail account.
Back in September 2004, Microsoft began disabling the ability to access free
hotmail accounts. They started by disabling it for new accounts created
after that time, but continuing to support it for accounts that already
existed. Earlier this year, they announced that they were going to
eliminate it for all free accounts, but then relented, but are requiring all
accounts to use a new protocol. Before this time, the protocol was WebDAV.
Now it is Deltasync and the Outlook Connector supports the Deltasync
protocol. A few legacy accounts can still be accessed by WebDAV (mine, for
example), but I think eventually that will change for all accounts and the
Connector will be required. A quick search of Microsoft's download site
will locate it for you. It will work with either Outlook 2003 or Outlook
2007.
