I am getting ready to network the computers using the option in Office XP. I
do get the concept and don't think I will have too many problems. All my
machines run XP and the office 2003 products.
I use yahoo and have it downladed to Outlook on my laptop. Which will be on
the Network some of the time. I do not have any .pst files set up - yet.
So can I set up to access my outlook (email being downloaded from Yahoo)
inbox, calendar etc from any other computer on the nework - as long as my
laptoop is hooked up to the netwrk?
Also if I switch outlook to my desktop can I still access this with my
laptop i.e. access inbox, folders, calendars etc..
So can I do it - is ther another program I should be running to enable this?

Thanks Geoff

I think you mean Windows XP :)

Sure you do, if you're using Outlook; you're downloading your Yahoo mail to
it. The only way you wouldn't have a PST file in Outlook would be if you
connected to an Exchange server.
So can I set up to access my outlook (email being
downloaded from Yahoo) inbox, calendar etc from any other computer on

Not really; Outlook doesn't share data well. You could check out
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/share.htm
and
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/sync.htm

You cannot access a PST file with more than one computer simultaneously, or
more than one session on the same computer simultaneously, and MS doesn't
support accessing a PST file across a network connection (LAN or WAN)
although many people do this successfully.
Also if I switch outlook to my desktop can I still access this with my
laptop i.e. access inbox, folders, calendars etc..
So can I do it - is ther another program I should be running to
enable this?

The above links should help, but I suggest you post in
microsoft.public.outlook for more help.

I personally use ShareO
(http://shareo.4team.biz/?pcode=608310193bh66vm) and I am very
confident with it. However it's synchronization is based on emails
(just like the Net Folders in Outlook 2000 work) so the only
requirement for you is to set up an additional email accounts (POP3
compatible). You will be able to share all MS Outlook folders
(including mail fodlers).

Good luck,

As I asked in my reply to your similar message in
m.p.windowsxp.security_admin, what is your affiliation with this company?

Just a happy user sharing his impressions :)

Cool. But why are you posting under a different name in here and in the
other group?
