We switched to broadband from AOL about 4 months ago (using cox.net). W
have been using Microsoft Outlook (2000) (not Express) as our e-mai
program. I have set up different users in Windows 2000 and th
appropriate mail routes to each. Recently, I sent an e-mail which wen
through fine. About 5 minutes later I attempted to send another e-mai
and both Outlook and Norton popped up. Outlook said "The message coul
not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by server
Server response 550 relaying mail to ufl.edu is not allowed. Accoun
pop.east.cox.net SMTP server SMTP east.cox.net Error #0x800ccc79" an
Norton said the error message I got was "Your email message was unabl
to be sent because your mail server rejected the sender" with erro
numbers 1003,7. Now, ufl.edu is the domain for the University o
Florida, of which I am a student and have an e-mail account with onl
because it is required. This account is forwarded to my e-mail accoun
through Cox.

I e-mailed Cox. They sent some crap back which asked me if I had trie
disabling Norton before sending e-mail. I then called them and the
were unable to help me, saying (rather snottily) that they do no
support Outlook, only Outlook Express. They helped me set up my e-mai
account in Express and it works fine.

Now I don't know which is the better program, but it seems to me tha
Outlook is and I would prefer to use it rather than Express, if I ca
just get the glitch out of it. All of the e-mail settings are as the
should be.

When I try to send original e-mails I get the above messages. When
reply to e-mails, there is no problem and they go through just fine.
One thing I guess I should mention is that that recent virus went al
through UF's mail system. I received lots of copies of that virus.
never opened any attachments; I just deleted the e-mails. However,
am getting returned mail to my Cox account as if I had sent e-mails t
a bunch of people whose addresses are now unknown. My ufl account i
forwarded to my Cox account. I had Norton scan my system and n
problems were found.

Also, my husband's and my daughter's Outlook e-mail programs ar
working just fine. Only mine is affected.

I hope someone can shed some light onto what has happened.

Thank you,
