All of a sudden MS Outlook which I have been using for years won't open.
Outlook Express works fine. The error message I get is "Unable to open
Outlook a program error has occured, shut down outlook and windows and
restart" This doesn't work. Outlook works fine in safe mode with networking
but won't work in normal windows XP. Two other computers on my home network
work fine with the same settings.

Try starting Outlook (not Windows) in Safe Mode.

To do this, hold down CTRL while opening outlook (either while clicking the
icon or immediately after clicking the icon). You should get a box that says
"Outlook as detected that you are holding the CTRL key..."

If it works fine like that, then the error might be due to an Outlook Add-On.

If you haven't added anything to outlook, make sure you're anti-virus,
anti-malware, and updates are all up-to-date.

Try posting your question in an Outlook newsgroup where you'll get
attention from the Outlook experts. Here is a list of all the MS
newsgroups: http://aumha.org/nntp.htm

You might start with microsoft.public.outlook.general. See this link for
the details you should include in your post:
