Outlook won't exit. still up in Processes in Windows Task Manager

I exit Outlook. but it still shows up under Processes in Windows Task
Manager. The problem with this is that I can't check my home email(in the
web app) at work because outlook is still grabbing my mail.

how can I get it to exit when I exit?
 
I just had this problem with a client. Unfortunately, our
answer was to format and re-install. You might try
deleting Outlook and re-installing. I cannot be sure, but
there were some problems with the Outlook 2003 that was
on the Office 2003 CD. When we reloaded, we deleted
Outlook and let the server install it. (A feature on SBD
2003) So, if you don't have this as an option, perhaps
find some other source to load it from. Maybe load an
older version and update from Web.

I have the same problem
I also noticed that Word was still running even though I had not opened it
