I have a remote user with a laptop that is running Windows XP Pro. It has
the Cisco VPN client (4.0.2.b) and Office 2000. This user has 2 personal
Internet email addresses and an email address on our Exchange server. I have
configured Outlook to retrieve messages for all 3 accounts. When he is
connected to our network here in our office everything works fine. He can
send and receive mail for all three accounts. However, when he is connected
to his home network (behind a Linksys router) and connects to our network
via the VPN we have a problem. His connection to the VPN works fine. Once
connected he can ping our mail server and open Outlook. However, he cannot
receive mail from his two Internet email accounts and he can only send to
address that are part of our local network. Messages he sends to external
addresses sit in his outbox.
I have asked him to verify that the Internet Connection Firewall is turned
off. He says it is. I know there are also settings pertaining to the
Internet Connection Sharing as well. If ICS is shows as on in any of the
network connections could this cause his problem? Or is there any other
possibility?
Any help would be appreciated.
