OK I have been attempting to use the online support from
MS. Which asks me for the product ID to continue. Well
in order to do that I must first get the program to work
so I can go the the "Help" "About" Well if I could get
the program to open I wouldn't need support. I've got to
invest money in this company. I don't know where ese you
could people to spend so much money on thier products
then make them so ticked off that they give up and never
use the program. Here's the problem. I try to open
OUTLOOK. (Not outlook express) and I've been suing ti for
2 weeks. It says that the program is not configured
correctly. So it brings up a file search with the file it
is asking for listed right there in the folder. So I
click on it and it then says it is the wrong version. OK
so how then do I download the correct version. I
contacted HP tech support and they "CLAIM" that the
program was not installed on the computer when I
purchased it. So I'm guessing that when I registered
Outlook with MS from thier website it magically appeared
in my computer and configured itself. Any suggestions on
how to cntact MS or the Page where I can download OUTLOOK
again and enter my product KEY. I want to get my
previous Emails out of that program and then uninstall.
I want to use this computer for business and cannot be
worried that one day OUTLOOK is going to take a dump and
I'm not going to be able to open it and read my emails.

What version of Outlook are you talking about? What file is it looking for?
Are you starting Outlook by shortcut or by the executable itself?

Note that Outlook isn't available for download. You must have installed it
in some way if HP didn't do it either.

Ok here's what I get. I receive an Modal "Personal
Folders" Which says "This information service has not
been configured. Slecet an exisiting file to configure,
or type the name of a new file to create."
Then I click "OK" I receive a option
"Create/Open Personal Folders File" Look in: Outlook The
file veiwed here is Outlook.pst It is looking for *.pst
files There is one there. I have been using it for two
weeks. Well the INvoice doesn't say which version of
Outlook it is All's it says in "Microsoft Office 2003
Edition" Then when I click on that file it then says "the
File
c:\Doc...\...\Local...\Appdata\MS\Outlook\Outlook.pst is
not compatable with this version of the personal folders
information." Contact your Administrator. I guess I'm
gonig to try to talk to HP again. I'm with you it had to
have been pre installed I didn't install anything from MS
for that program. I hope they have someone that
understands English help me this time.

The error message indicates that the pst-file has been created with a
prereleased version of Outlook (someone messed with the system?). Have you
created this file yourself and stored data in it? If not then the easiest
way to go from here is to delete the currently configured profile and
configure Outlook for you account. To recreate your profile go to Control
Panel-> Mail-> button Show Profiles...

Interesting, I finally just created a new Profile and got
it working again. HP claims they didn't install the
program and MS says it wasn't downloaded. I guess it just
magically appeared. Whew. I gave up. I have posted a new
problem in the installation newsgroup and have given up on
ever retriving the first week of emails with all my
IMPORTANT infromation such as Cnfirmations of Activations
and Registrations and all that stuff. I can see that I
need to get in the act and write my own programs that
don't work and get people to spend alot of money for them
and set up a website to deny support becuase There really
isn't any support available. Could someone please tell me
how to contact anyone in support at Microsoft. I really
need to get someone that can help me fix this thing. I
left the problem in the other nbewgroup so as not to
DOUBLE POST.
