I am running XP Home and recently installed Office 2003
(upgrade). I have been using Outlook Express v. 6 and am
interested in switching to Outlook.

It appears that the two products do not use common files.
Am I correct? Can this be changed so that both products
store in the same files? Whare are the files located?

Somewhat inrelated question. What happened to the old
Office Toolbar that was available under Office 2000? Is
there a replacement?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

You are correct. Each program is different and stores user data in its own
propriatery format. (e.g. Outlook Express uses *.DBX files for messages
while Microsoft Outlook uses *.PST. File formats of each are different.)

For XP, files for Microsoft Outlook are located under:
\documents and settings\<userid>\application data\microsoft\outlook
and
\documents and settings\<userid>\local settings\application
data\microsoft\outlook

You might find it easier to open Windows Explorer and configure it to show
you all hidden/system files.

Gone. Use the Quick Launch bar or build your own folder with shortcuts and
use it as a toolbar.
