Hello, I am having trouble accessing my mailbox on our
exchange server through a VPN connection over DSL. The
atrange thing is that it works over 56k dialup. When I
open outlook 2002 i get this error message: "Outlook is
retrieving data from the Microsoft Exchange Server
ServerName. You can cancel the request or minimize this
message to the Windows taskbar until Outlook closes the
message automatically." Has anyone seen this problem with
VPN over DSL?

Thanks in advance...

Hi I can't help, except to report the same problem. When
I'm in the office it's fine. When I'm home, I establish
a VPN that seems fine, Outlook works for a while and then
at some point (5 minutes - 1 hour) it starts to fail with
the same "retrieving data" message box you describe.
VPN seems fine, but it makes a messa of the Outlook
connection and any messages I have open.
This is all against Exchange 2003

I have Echange 5.5 with sp4. If I try with broadband
internet everything works just fine. What is so different
about DSL?

Thanks.

In doing support for Outlook and VPN both yes I have seen this happen with DSL. Have you contacted your DSL provider there is some configuration they have to do in order for your VPN to work properly. Also, I would make sure that you have the latest VPN

Also, are you connecting directly to your DSL modem? There also may need to be some updates done with your DSL modem

So the first step is to check with your DSL provider. Let me knwo if you are able to make any progress with it
