Can anybody help - I have used Outlook for POP3 for ages, syncronized with
PALM and provides e-mail when on web - it's somehow switched to Outlook
express and PALM and web e-mail no longer works.... what's happened and how
do I restore my outlook settings?

Open Internet Explorer and select Tools > Internet Options > Programs tab
and verify that Microsoft Outlook is set as your e-mail, contact, and
calendar program. If it is already set to Microsoft Outlook, switch it off
to Outlook Express, select Apply and then set it back to Microsoft Outlook
and apply again.

Thanks. This has helped with half of the problem - microsoft explorer is now
sending me to outlook to send an e-mail from web however, my PALM is still
not hot sync'ing with outlook - says it's not set up, it comes up with a MAIL
SETUP error message, which reads, 'an error occurred while trying to
initialize MAPI. Please verify that the mail system you selected is
correctly setup and that you can senda nd receive mail.' I am still able to
send and receive mail without a problem using my POP3 account on Outlook.
Any more advice out there....?

What version of Outlook are you using? If Outlook 98/2000 is it in
Corporate/Workgroup or Internet Mail Only mode? (See Help > About Microsoft
Outlook. 2nd or 3rd line down in the dialog box will state the mode.)

ps - Outlook 98/2000 need to be in Corporate/Workgroup mode for the palm
software to work.

Thanks again.
I'm using Outlook 2003 - and can't find any reference to what you've
mentioned. I may try removing the mail software from my PALM and starting
again. All other suggestions welcomed!

Outlook 2003 has a unified messaging model so you won't find such a
reference.

You also might want to check to see if there are any updates to the chapura
software that comes with your Palm after you do the uninstall/reinstall
thing with the palm software.
