Outlook suggestion: archive message.

Hi to all,

This is a suggestion for Office Outlook.

Currently when I read e-mail in the inbox I can do one of three things: Flag
the e-mail, delete the e-mail or just read the e-mail and leave it in the
inbox. Ok, I can do more things but these are the ones that can be done fast
and from the toolbar. I want another handy button put in the program by
default that will allow archiving of e-mails. I mean like press that button
and the e-mail is placed in a special group in the inbox called archived
e-mails. I should be able then to set my view in order to see only the
archived e-mails or only the new ones or all of them. This will help us get
e-mail out of the way easily, whilst not having to move them into a new
folder or assign a category or in any other way change our inbox view. We
could for example, view messages by date while at the same time maintain
that separation between archived and not archived messages. The button
should be like the Flag message button and should say something like Archive
message.

Finally, having messages as read and not read is not the same thing as what
I am proposing. An archived message means that I have finished working with
that message, whilst just read or flagged should mean that I am still
working on it.

You could "drag and drop" the message from the in box to a folder on the
outlook bar or folder list. No extra menus and you stay in the inbox view.
 
Yes I can drag and drop but as I said we should be able to group items in
the inbox itself and not have to have multible folders.

The Inbox is not the place to keep all your mail.

Create a category called "Archived" and assign that category to the message
in question. Then change your View to exclude that category.
