I am getting real frustrated. i have uninstalled outlook and reinstalled
it. i have tried everything that i can think of (even disabled anti-virus
software after doing a complete scan of the computer). nothing will work.
does anyone know why i can receive emails no problem and when you click on
test account settings everything works except for sending an outgoing
message? below are some of my previous posts.

i have tried that with no luck. i have mcaffee anti-virus online and i
disabled it. after disabling it, the same problem continued. anything else
that could cause this. i have already uninstalled and reinstalled the
software.

Do you have any anti-virus software installed on the machine that's having
the problem? That has been known to interfere with Outlook's connections.
Try disabling it if you have it, and if the problem goes away, check with
the vendor for an update to fix the problem.

whenever I try replying to an email....i get an error message that says:

"the connection to the server was interupted. if the problem continues,
please contact your server administrator or ISP. the server reponded: 421
out006.verizon.net Lost Connection to [141.149.XXX.YY]"

for the ip address, i replaced the last numbers with letters to protect the
actual address. i am behind a linksys firewall, but that has never mattered
and i have a second computer that i can use outlook on with no problem. on
this computer though...the message just gets stuck in the outbox. if i
strip away all of the body and try sending, no problem. if i go into the
account details and click on "Test Account Settings", everything works
except for "send test message". for that, i get an error message saying
that it was unable to send test message. Please verify the email address
field. any ideas what could be wrong....i am going nuts!??!

Try configuring it in outlook express just to see if you are able to send
and receive. And from my memory you do not type in an IP address for
Verizon mail, I would get the server names from them. Hope this helps (for
more accurate attempts include the error number, my guess you are dealing
with 0x800CCC0E, 0x800CCC0D, or 0x800CCC0F)

For some reason Verizon is breaking the connection, not Outlook. As I
responded in an earlier post, this may be a result of having multiple
accounts that point to the same server. Some ISPs are very touchy about
more than one connection being made to their server by a given machine, and
that may be why they're dropping your connection. If you do have more than
one account, try disabling send/receive for all but one and see if that
works. Not that this is the way you'd want to run, but we're trying to
track down what's going wrong...

Jeff, thanks for the reply. This computer only has 1 mail account set-up.
furthermore, like i said, it even fails when trying to test account
settings. furthermore, i can go to another computer on their home network,
open up outlook on that computer, and everything works great. it is
definitely something with outlook on this new Dell computer that we have.
it worked fine for the first month.....but all of a sudden it has turned
into a nightmare.

any other thoughts?

What version of Outlook do you have? Could you turn on diagnostic logging
(see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q300479) and
post the OPMLog.log file (preferably as an attachment) after trying to send
a message?
