I have been expeincing varinging degrees of this frustrating occurrence. I
run outlook contained within Office XP and have updated my computer pre
recomndation from MS with SP2 and all realized from detection for Office XP.
My machine an Athlon 2400 1gig of ram running on MS XP. Im not sure why this
happens, as the program is also very slow to start up in th e first place.
It can occur upon selecting any itme (Reminder, new email, clander, etc.) or
upon trying to send an email.

Should I uninstall ----> reinstall

or am i missing something that could help me

thanks in advance

Installed Office XP SP3 + hotfixes as well?

See if disabling the Messenger integration helps for you;
Tools-> Options-> tab Other

In addition to what Robert suggests, locate and delete or rename the
Outcmd.dat file (in the hidden folder
%AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook.
