I just installed Service Pack 3 and cannot get any of my (several thousand)
old saved email messages or, more importantly, my old address book from
Outlook Express. Not happy. Are these archived during installation, or just
nuked altogether (really not happy)? Anyone know?

As Outlook is part of Office and OE is part of IE, the installation of an
OFFICE service pack should have NO effect on OE at all. What precisely do
you mean "cannot get any of my old messages"? Please be far more specific.

Thanks for the reply, Gordon. I never used Outlook for email, only outlook
express. After installation of the SP, I lost my OE icon, and my Outlook
inbox had nothing in it. Obviously the address book for OE is not the
Contact list for Outlook, so I can't get my OE address book either.

I still cannot fathom why an "Office" service pack should have affected
Outlook Express - OE is NOT part of Office. Have you tried going to
Start-All programs and seeing if the OE icon is there? if not, do a repair.
