Chris

At uni I use Outlook for 2 email accounts:

1. Hotmail
2. University account - Microsoft Exchange Server

Outlook is slow to open - I assume due to the time it takes to connect
to the http server.

Is there a way of telling Outlook not to connect to Hotmail unless I
request it?

Thanks

Yep, I do that as well :-)

Tools-> Options-> tab Mail Setup-> button Send/Receive...-> button Edit...->
uncheck the Hotmail mail account

I wonder why Hotmail do this? Cos don't they loose money from
advertising revenue when people use Outlook for hotmail!?!?

So that means "don't include in send/receive group".

So how do you send/receive messages? (sorry to be thick!)

There should be an item for the Hotmail account on the Send/Receive menu.

My All Accounts group is fully configured (all accounts are ticked to do
everything) but all the options for the group are unticked (automatic
send/receive and such). I created a new goup called No Hotmail where I did
configure automatic send/receive for my other accounts but unticked Hotmail,
