Outlook shuts down

I am running Outlook 2000 (version 9.0.0.2711). Today it started
shutting down for no reason while I have it minimized. I don't know if
it will stay open maximized but I can't wait around to find out. It
seems to run for about 3-5 minutes and then it just disappears. No
warnings or error messages; it's just gone. It seems to start back up
OK but won't stay running.

Does anyone know what's going on? Is this a virus or something. I did
a full system scan using Norton AntiVirus (freshly updated) and it
found nothing.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you leave it un-minimized, does it shut down?

I have the same problem as of this morning, at least when I noticed it
happening..

I am running Outlook 2003, version 11.6568.6568.

Every time I minimise Outlook, either from the top right hand box or
right clicking on the taskbar, Outlook disappears - I say disappears
because when I look at running processes, Outlook.exe is still
running.

If I open a mail message and minimise Outlook, Outlook page disappears
but the mail message is still there (whether minimised first or not)
and I can cycle through mail messages using the up and down arrows.
When I get to the last (or first) e mail in the particular folder then
clicking the arrow again closes the mail item.

As with the other user, I get no error messages and Outlook starts up
again without problem

If it's minimizing to the system tray (the area next to the clock on the
Taskbar), could it be that the icon is hidden?

It has always minimised the same as other programs previously, how
would I know if it has minimised to the task bar, and can I change it
back to normal behaviour?Posting from Peter Rogers

Thanks, your last response has pointed me to the solution. I have
just noticed that the icon in the sysyem tray had the "hide when
minimised" selection ticked. removing the tick has sorted the
problem.

Thanks

Peter
