F5 works in Outlook Express 6 and Outlook 2000. F9 doesn't do
anything. Cowboy Frank and I are talking about US version, so maybe
you're thinking of another language?
The OP said they had been using Outlook 2002 (not 2000) and upgraded to
Outlook 2003. In Outlook 2002, it's the F9 key that does a Send &
Receive operation. Maybe F5 works as an implied Refresh (although there
is no Refresh submenu) to instigate a mail poll but I don't see it
listed as a shortcut key in Outlook 2002.
In Outlook 2002 (which is what the OP said they were previously using
and what they were used to, and Outlook XP *is* Outlook 2002), the
shortcut key listed under the "Tools -> Send & Receive -> Send & Receive
ALL" is F9.
In Outlook Express 6, F5 is listed as the shortcut key for the "View ->
Refresh" menu. It does instigate a mail poll if the tree node selected
is an e-mail account (and not a newsgroup node in the tree). F5
refreshes the contents of whatever node type is currently highlighted
but it does not do a refresh of ALL accounts. Under the "Tools -> Send
& Receive -> Send & Receive All" menu, the shortcut key shown is Ctrl+M.
However, the OP never asked about Outlook Express, and this is an
Outlook newsgroup.
I have US versions, too, and the above shortcut keys were found by
looking in Outlook 2002 and Outlook Express 6. The OP never mentioned
Outlook 2000, but then he didn't mention Outlook Express, either.
