I have several email accounts set-up in Outlook, however when I receive an
email to one of them and respond it always responds from the first (default)
email account (i.e. the first one in the list) not the account the email was
addressed to. This causes me many problems if I forget to check the account
the response is being sent from.

Does anyone know a way to make Outlook always respond from the same account
the incoming email was addressed to

What version of Outlook? If you use OL2002 or 2003, it should do this
automatically for you....

I posted the same problem earlier today 18 Oct.
I too find Outlook always replies from my default account.

I'm running Office Pro 2003 under Windows XP Pro SP2.

As you say, it's a nuisance if you forget to check the account when you reply.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I have found the same problem. It is driving me crazy.

I'm using Outlook Pro 2003 under Windows XP.

This problem has been driving me crazy. Try this:
Delete the mail account that Outlook uses at the default on reply (remember
to write the setting down) --- not the one that you want it to use as the
default reply.

Then re-add the account, but give it a different Mail Account Name on the
More Settings...., General Tab and just for kicks a different organization
name.

See if that works. I'm curious.

LSCR,
Didn't have time just now to try all you suggested but just tried
re-assigning the default to one of my other accounts. Interestingly, the
replies were still generated from the original default account rather than
the new one.

My Outlook 2003 came ready installed in a new Dell PC I bought just a couple
of weeks ago. I just needed to set up the accounts.
