It would be useful if the Send/Receive progress indicator in Outlook would
convey useful feedback of what is happening. Right now, I don't know:
- How many messages are being downloaded, and there size and the total size
of the job. (if it's a long message, it would be nice to at least have some
feedback on who it's from and the subject while it's downloading, with the
option of cancelling it, and deleting it outright from the server.)
- How long it will take my uploading messages to finish uploading. (In
terms of bytes transfered and % of total size transfered or remaining to be
transfered, bit/rate estimate and time estimate.)
I think the above functionality is the basic requirement of anything called
a "Progress" indicator. Right now, all I have a "Something is happening"
indictor... useless except for troubleshooting tasks.
This concerns Outlook 2002 and POP accounts. Perhaps there has been
improvements in 2003 that I am not aware of. If so, please disregard this
post.
Perhaps someone is aware of plugings that would provide this functionality?
