Down the left side I have some images
outlook today, calendar, contacts, tasks, notes, deleted items.

When I choose one of those icons I get this
Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Outlook could not access the specified folder location. The folder no longer exists.
the only link that actually works is the outlook update shortcut icon under the
my shortcuts.

The icons under other shortcuts all work.

Buuutt.... If I use the View->goto-> wherever, that works.
also a little pull down on the address bar works if I can get it located either
at boot of outlook, or by using the view menu.

I used the detect and repair. Had zero effect.
I right clicked for properties on the icon and got unable to display the folder
properties, The folder may have been deleted or the server where the folder is
stored may be unreadable. The folder no longer exists.

Which is a lie since 80% of the other links find the shortcuts just fine.

Note: This is a new problem. It didn't exist using office 2000. And I just
upgraded to office XP.

Word, access, and excel seem to have no problems with the upgrade. These are
all I use with office. So I'm guessing power point works also. I wouldn't know
never use it.

How do I repair the icons on the left bar. Oh the address for the calendar
shortcut shows to be
outlook:8000000018000000AC23180095000000C423180000000000FB76B272672D9648B522E6F79A140ED5228100000000000038A1BB1005E5101AA1BB08002B2A56C200005053545052582E444C4C00000000000000004E495441F9BFB80100AA0037D96E000000433A5C446F63756D656E747320616E642053657474696
yeah like I know what to do with that 256 characters.
A registry entry correct ?

find and delete the FAV file - it should cause the shortcuts to regenerate.
it should be at C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Interesting the tip you gave, and I'll assume at the same link above. Couldn't
be found at the MS web site when I hit help online button, and it gave a ton of
pages on broken icon shortcuts, but nothing on page 1 or 2, that even suggested
this...

oh and FWIW: for future reference.. I've been at this for ages, but don't know
it all yet. Instead of DELETING the FAV file, rename it THEN run outlook. If it
fixes it [as it did], then you can delete the backup you just renamed.

You said it yourself, it SHOULD fix the problem. Deleting a lot of startups can
fix a problem by regenerating, but it can also cause more headaches than it
cures if that wasn't the problem.

Thanks... Trick is knowing which file to delete.
