Outlook setup

I just switched from OE to Outlook for my email. 1) How do I set it to go
directly to my Inbox upon opening? 2) Can I set the frequency for checking
for new email?

There are 7 versions of Outlook in current use.
We would need to know which you are using.
 
It is Outlook 2003.

1. Tools > Options > Other > Advanced Options...
2. Tools > Options > Mail Setup > Send/Receive...
