I have just purchased a new Toshiba Tecra computer and am
trying to reinstall my email. I am finding that Oublook
will not send some of my emails, The message 'Send test
email message; The specified server was found, but there
was no response from the server. Please verify that the
Port & SSL information is correct. To accese setting
close this dialog, then click more settings and click on
the advance Tab.' I did this and my server name is POP 3
for incoming and SMTP for outgoing. The number 110 is in
the box for incoming and the number 25 is in the outgoing
box. Also, I keep getting a pop up box that says 'Enter
Network Password' It identifies the server as 'localhost'
and the user name as email address. If I go to the email
setup in Outlook, the incoming is changed to 'localhost'
and the password is blank in spite of the fact that I
fill in the blank as mail.scolling.com (my domain name).
The Outlook email tool will not accept what I put in
those incoming and password columns. Anybody know what I
should do?

Uncheck the option to have your Anti-virus check your incoming mail. Then
remove and re-add your mail account. Ensure that you are using the correct
names for POP3 and SMTP servers. Check with your ISP - many post this
information prominently on their web page.

Do you have an antivirus program running and set to scan incoming messages?
If so, that's what's likely causing the server names to revert to
"localhost". Check with the manufacturer of your AV program to see if they
have an updated version that will not change your server names.
