Outlook sending unknown emails

When initially hitting 'Send/Receive', Oulook is for
example sending out 9 email messages - I didn't prepare
them and I can't tell who they are to and what they are -
it keeps no record of them in sent messages. Anyone know
what is happening here?
 
Sounds like a virus to me.

They could be read receipts.
