Outlook sending problems

Hi All
I am having the same problems with sending a message to my POP3 server.
I hit the send button, the first error occurs then the second error. It repeats itself indefinitely and if I do not stop the sending of the message it will send an unlimited number of the messages to all recipients. (The message is sent correctly with no errors)
This problem only seems to happen on messages larger than 200k.

I am running Win2K with Office 2003.

The exact message is:
[Error sending. Reported error 0X004210B Operations timed out waiting for response from the sending SMTP Server]
the other message is:
[0X800CCC0B unknown error]

Is it possible to stop Outlook from resending the message automatically?

Since so many people are experiencing this problem I certainly hope Microsoft are attempting to rectify the situation.

Many thanks in anticipation of a patch to stop Outlook trying to resend.

Phil

.

You do not send email to your POP3 server. You receive
mail from your POP3 server and you send mail to your SMTP
server.

Temporarily disable your anti-virus program from scanning
outbound e-mails to see if the problem disappears. AV
software can cause timeouts due to the time to perform an
inline scan of the outbound datastream. Norton AV has
a "protect against timeouts" option; if you're using NAV
and have outbound e-mail scanning enabled, make sure this
option is also enabled. But for now, just disable
outbound AV scanning to check if the timeouts go away.

If this problem occurs with an email account other than
one with your ISP, then change your SMTP server settings
to your ISP's. In other words, if your problem is checking
a Yahoo email account and your ISP is Earthlink, then
don't use Yahoo's SMTP server, use Earthlink's.

You can go into your Outbox and delete this email message
and it will stop attempting to send. Also, you can simply
open and close it and it will do the same. Once you solve
the problem, open the message in your Outbox again and hit
Send to send it.

While you may want to suggest that this is a Microsoft
problem, it most likely is not. Your problem is with your
email account's server or settings on your own computer.

Good Luck
