I sometimes receive the following error messages when sending email - the two
below came back to system admininstrator as undeliverable when I replied, and
forwarded emails. All recipients are in my outlook address book. I have
communicated with all on a regular basis.

Is this an Outlook problem?
Is this an ISP problem?
Where do I start to fix this?

Thanks

Not a problem with Outlook. The problem is that the outgoing mail
server is preventing you to send mails from an IP address that does not
belong to their network.

As it says in the error messages, you need to authenticate to your outgoing
server - set that up on the "Outgoing server" tab for your account.

Jeff,
Can this be done in Outlook97? Can you authenticate to the sending server?
Thanks

JW,

How did you ever fix this issue.
I just installed Outlook 2003 and I am getting the same error. Sometimes
send / rec. works then other times I get the error. Can you help ?

Okay, this sounds right. I will setup the authentication for the outgoging
smtp server.
thanks!

I too am receiving these errors but it appears only with attachments. How do
you authenticate the outgoing server?

How do you authenticate the outgoing server?

It's on the Advanced tab of your account properties pages.
