Outlook rules on server vs local

We are upgrading our company from Office 2000 to Office 2003 soon and which
obviously includes Outlook to 2003 as well. Is there a site or spreadsheet
or something somewhere that lists what rules when created are stored on the
server and what rules when created are stored locally on C drive of computer?
We are concerned about rules being lost in upgrade and want to be proactive.
Thank you!

If your mailbox is on an Exchange server, then ALL rules are stored on the
server, even though some may be server rules and others client rules. If
your mailbox is a PST, then ALL rules are stored there and none are server
rules.

Cool, thanks Brian for the quick and helpful answer!! As for other issues,
are there any other settings or configs within Outlook that will be lost in
the upgrade to Outlook 2003 even though Migrate settings is selected in the
CIW that you know of or a site explaining this? I have searched and haven't
had much luck.

Went to that site you have below and not sure if I get the same out of it.
What about the second paragraph and the section that says ...

"Some rules created with IA run only on the client. Many rules created with
Rules Wizard run from the server. ***Whether a rule is server-based or
client-based depends, not on the tool you use to create it, but on the exact
conditions and actions for that rule.***"

Outlook 2002 and 2003 store all rules on the server. Whether a rule actually
run on the server or only when the client is opened depends on the actions
in the rule.

BTW - Inbox assistant does not run if you use Rules Wizard.

When I upgraded from OL 2000 to OL 2003, I lost nothing. To be safe, make a
copy of any PSTs you have (with Outlook closed).

If I understand your question, that says that it's not how you created the
rule that counts, it's the rules conditions and actions that determine
whether it's server- or client-based.

That is right Brian, exactly what I am asking.
