Outlook process won't terminate

I am running Outlook 2002 on XP and when it closes the
process is still listed in the Task Manager. When the
shortcut is reactivated another process comes up in the
task manager but does not open. I have attempted to
disable the antivirus programs and installed SP3. I have
not installed any new hardware recently, this problem
just appeared out of nowhere. Any help would be greatly
appeciated.

This is the result of some other software, like ActiveSync, your AV program,
or an Outlook Add-In that is keeping the Outlook image running. Eliminate
the other programs one-by-one, starting with the Outlook Add-ins until you
locate the offending application.
