Hello
I have deleted outlook 2003 (uninstalled it) I deleted the outlook data file
storage area...and the fiels in it.

But now when I reinstalled it, it pops up a message saying that it needs me
to install outlook file2 or something similar it is a some kind of data
file.

But if its been deleted and reinstalled then why would it be asking for this
file then it won't open it closes back up.

Can anybody assist?

Thanks

You didn't delete your mail profiles from the Mail applet in Control Panel.

Hi Sue
How are you?

Thanks fo ryour help, can you tell me how to deletethis. If I do a clean
uninstall then delete this profile thingy your talking about, then reinstall
will that fix it?

There is no need to repeat the uninstall/reinstall process. Just delete any mail profiles you're not using and create a new one with the settings you do want to use. If you run the Mail applet in Control Panel, the rest should be obvious.

Thanks Sue,
I'm reading about the data files. But can you tell me how can I find the
mail applet thingy from the control panel?
Kind Regards

Probably the easiest way: On the left side of Control Panel, click Switch to Classic View, then double-click Mail.

Many thanks for your help Sue.
I have read up a bit about them, I think the difficulty I had was somehow I
managed to change some kind of "location" and that caused a problem....when
outlook couldn't find it.

Then during the attempts to put it back so I could get access to my emails I
suddenly ended up with more than one file in the data area, and so of course
I worried that this would cause problems later.

This data file area I had never seen before and was not aware of it. I have
deleted all except one now, and I hope that is ok.
Thanks again for your help.
