I use Outlook 2000 and notice that it is much slower than Outlook Express.

That is with windows xp, ,sp 2,, cable modem and 2.8 Ghz computer

Couple of questions...

1) Is Outlook 2000 configured in Internet Mail Only or Corporate/Workgroup
mode and
2) Define slower? For example, are you noticing that mail downloads slower
or is it switching before folders, .etc.

Outlook is configured in Internet mail only.

Slower ? Well, when I post here in the Newsgroup it is instantaneous. Within
less than a second.

In Outlook I have to hit Send and Receive and then I see for many seconds,
up to 1 minute the "cute" exchange of incoming and outgoing mail "flying
through the air"

Does that explain it fairly enough?

still sounds like you are describing corporate/workgroup mode. do you have
a tools | services or tools | accounts in microsoft outlook? (or look at
help > about microsoft outlook. second or third line should say which mode
you are in. fwiw, corporate/workgroup mode is slower. outlook 98/2000's
internet mail only mode has account dialogs that are similar to outlook
express and is almost as fast in checking mail providing you don't have any
internet security related products installed that scan e-mail.)

You are so right!

I am in Corporate Workgroups. Did not know until I looked where you said to
look.

Now, what do you suggest I do now?

I have Office 2000 and use Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

What should I change?

Thanks in advance
Karl

I see that you posted a new thread on the subject and Russ made a comment
about how to change modes. Did you still need an answer to this?
