I'm using Outlook Express on a Win XP Pro. Under OE's
tools, accounts, servers tab, I place the name of the POP3
server, pop3.someisp.com, account name of joe, yada yada yada.

NOW, when I return to the OE.tools.accounts.servers, the
POP3 server has changed to localhost, and my account name
is joe/pop3.someisp.com.

What's up with that? Why? What do I to my XP settings to
keep it from alterting that? Is it a POP3 service that my
machine is handling?

Thanks.

I'd like to know what the resolution for this is aswell,
we have an XP computer that does this very thing, we've
given up and taken email off this computer because its too
frustrating to deal with!

That can happen if you have an antivirus or spam killer program that
scans incoming E-mail. The program changes the account settings so
that it can look at messages before sending them on to OE.

Is your E-mail working OK?

Steve,

That explains a lot. I'm running PC-cillin (it's OEM and
came with the machine) and after a closer inspection has
"POP3 scan" enabled. And yes the email works.

Thanks.
