Outlook: Poor handling of HTML-email and poor support for conv to

Because of the poor handling of HTML-emails (Outlook often won't mark inline
replys correctly etc., won't break lines in original etc. And after a few
replies nobody can find out who wrote what) I prefer to send in plain text.
However, this is only possible to do if I read all mail in "plain text" -
which is very unconvenient for newsletters etc.

Pt. I need to open the mail I want to reply to, choose "edit message" and
convert to plain text. This should be an automatic option ("always convert to
plain text when replying").

In another world I could look for another client... Not "IT" choose Outlook
2003 for me :-(

By all means, if you find another client that does what you want, use it.
Outlook is more than a mail client, however.

I agree. However, as you say another client is not an option...
Still, I'm puzzled that everyone seems to accept that html is not handled
well. The workaround is /not/ replying inline - which imho. often proves to
be very ineffective.

Cheers,
Anders

The _real_ answer is eschewing HTML altogether.
