Outlook panel in Outlook Express

I've just migrated from 98SE to XP sp2 and have set up my mail the same as in
98SE. However the font size for the text in the outlook panel is too large
for the button that contains the icons and so hence the bottom of the text
(if I use the sent post icon as an example) is missing, in the example I'm
quoting the tail of the lower case "p" disappears.
I've tried right clicking the space below and the button itself but the only
thing I can change is the icon size not the text size. I'm sure this can't be
an isolated incident and I'm hoping someone can suggest a fix.
TIA

Hi, Tried that, doesn't change anything in the Outlook Panel.

I've tried all the obvious things regarding the settings and clicking the
toolbars. I'm thinking it might be a registry problem but not knowing where
to look exactly, I'm loathe to try anything without being absolutely sure
before hand.

Thanks for replying. Any other takers?

Martin

Try moving your cursor over the divider between the Outlook bar and the
Folders bar until the cursor becomes a double headed arrow. Then left click
and drag the divider to the right until you can see all of text on your
icons. You can drag the divider clear to the right so that you can see
nothing but the Outlook bar, if you so desire.

You can drag any of the dividers in the same manner, up or down, left or
right to change the size of the pane/bar.

Are you referring to OE View > Layout > Outlook *Bar* and the Sent *Items*
folder icon in it? (I can't see a "sent post" icon anywhere.)

Perhaps you can post a link to a screenshot illustrating what you're seeing?

[Where's he seeing a letter p in an icon's text in Outlook Bar?]

I didn't read the text, I only look at the pictures (icons). ;-)

Outlook Bar
[[Specifies whether to display a list of icons similar to Microsoft Outlook
on the left side of the window.]]

The first time I have ever turned this puppy on was in regards to this
thread, I use the Folders bar.

My Outlook Bar has Inbox, Outbox, Sent Items, Deleted Items and Drafts.
There is no letter P in any of them.

It must not be very important anyway, the OP is using CDO.

You should ask this in a group with OUTLOOK EXPRESS or OE in the
title. Your question has nothing to do with XP.

Perhaps the "migration" wasn't a clean one? Have you been in Display
properties, Settings, Advanced, general tab. If you changed the DPI
setting there, it can cause the results you see. Normally it is 96 DPI.

Wait!

My Outlook Bar now has InboxP, OutboxP, Sent ItemsP, Deleted ItemsP and
DraftsP.

Apologies for taking so long to reply to this enquiry.

I've tried all suggestions mentioned, and still no joy. Dragging the divider
only moves the icons and text to the centre of the pane and the icon still
remains over the text.

Yes there are no "P's" in the Outlook Panel if you have an English version
of Outlook Express. I should have mentioned that I'm using a Danish language
version, but I don't see what difference that makes. I would be intersted in
knowing if a similar problem occurs in your versions of OE and the only way
would be to create a folder with a letter "p" in the folder title and let me
know if the same problem happens with you.

I should add that I didn't have any problem with this when using OE in 98SE
and the XP I'm using is not an upgrade but a new pc with a XPsp2 OEM version.

Any help would still be appreciated, if possible!
