Outlook Outbound message clogging traffic

am having a problem with an outbound message with a
couple of jpgs as attachments. For some reason Outlook
keeps on timing out on this one particular message, which
is becoming a huge bottleneck for standard email
correspondence. It says that it is preparing for sending
or sending, but eventully I get errors. Ideally, I'd just
like to kill this message, but can't figure out where to
find the queued files.

The message looks something like this:
Task - Sending' reported error (0x8004210B) : 'The
operation timed out waiting for a response from the
sending (SMTP) server. If you continue to receive this
message, contact your server administrator or Internet
service provider (ISP).'

In addition, I keep on getting a Mcaffee popup message
saying that the message that is stuck could be a
potential worm because it seems similar to other
messages. I've scanned the whole PC and it comes us
clean.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I'm running
Outlook 2003.

Create a new .pst file and make it the default. Close Outlook and reopen.
Delete the stuck message from the old .pst file. Make the old one the
default again and remove the new one.

Pardon my ignorance, but how do I create a new PST file
and make it the default. I'm not sure how exactly to do
the things you are recomending.

YUP! I have it also. Searched for a solution, non.
Environment, outlook 2003, McAfee. Message with an
attachment, sometimes it happens < 1mb most it happens
above 1mb.

Another problem is that it looks like not send but it is.
Sometimes the recipient receives it many times (outlook
is trying and trying).

Spoke to my provider and did live testing, to see what
the provider-log file is telling. Used several accounts,
smtp servers, problem remains. Killed McAfee, problem
remains. Repaired office, problem remains, all possible
variations are tested.

Provider logfiles, tells nothing. Most of the cases (when
i kill the proces)it's a ridle if it was send or not.
But... in my send folder there is nothing to see.

The mail is still in the outbox as long as i do not kill
the proces or (sometimes it's the only way to kill the
send proces) disable the networkadapter to be able to
delete the mail.

It's like a lottery, sometimes it actually was send out,
sometimes not.

IM SURE that it's an outlook 2003 issue!

Why?

I did install Netscape to test all variations I did try
with Outlook, no problem appeared.

Did anyone experienced, before the problem started to
appear, problems with his contacts list?

I did, suddenly outlook did not recognise my regular
contacts, looked at the adress books, nothing to see.
sometimes it showed a contact with "gdfgdfg"; and
sometimes with <"sfsf">; or <sdffsd>; In the beginning
creating a new contact was the solution later it wasn't.
