I just did a clean install of WinXP Pro SP2 + all updates on a new
harddrive. I then installed Office 2003 and all updates. I then associated
my pst file to the new Outlook install. The PST is 81 MB and I straightened
out the Contacts, so that they come up correctly for new emails. The problem
is...Outlook Today. If I go into customizations and set the checkbox to open
to 'Outlook Today', it seems to save, but as soon as I close and reopen, the
changes are gone. Also, each time I go through these motions, a new incident
of 'Outlook Today' appears under 'Messages' in the 'Outlook Today' screen.
I'm up to 11 and can't delete them. This isn't the first time I've
re-associated my PST file with a new install of the operating system, etc.,
but is the first time I've seen this peculiar behavior. Has anyone seen this
before and if so, how was it solved???

Thanks in Advance!!

How did you "reassociate"? It appears from the above that you've corrupted
your mail profile somehow. Try creating a new one.

Well, the usual way. Open the new install of Outlook 2003, close and find
new PST, erename it,open Outlook 2003 again, point it to the correct PST,
re-setup email account info, reconnect Contacts to email, reset 'file as
last name first' and bingo! Done. That being said, I developed the
previously mentioned problems with 'Outlook Today' page. I've since done a
'detect and repair', no change and found a tip on the Outlook tips website
that was about the similar problem with the 2002 version that required
registry editing to fix. I went to the registry and deleted the offending
entries and now things seem OK, but time will tell. As for a profile, I've
never had one separate from the default. Thanks for the reply, though, I
appreciate it.
