Having a strange sync problem with Outlook 2003 and Exchange 2003 with the
Notes.

Used Outlook locally to Exchange, and created a Note.
Then Setup a remote Outlook using RPC over HTTPS, then modified this one
Note.
If I look through OWA the Note took the modification.
If I go back to the local Outlook, the modification did NOT take, even
though I'm not using cached mode...

Tried to run the ScanOST.exe tool, but I guess it doesn't really work when
I'm directly connected to the Exchange server...

Completely confused!
Please help!

Thanks!

Did you change focus to another note and then back to the one you
edited? Even when not using Exchange, I've noticed that when you edit a
note that what is displayed in the preview pane is not updated after
closing the modified note. You have to force the preview pane to reread
the note, so I would click on a different note and then back on the
modified note to see the changes.

Not sure I follow you on that one... ?
As far as I know there is no Preview Panel for the Notes... ??
The remote computer + Outlook Web Access both have the latest modification
of this one Note.
But when using Outlook in the local network to the Exchange server, it does
NOT have the modification... I thought the local Outlook got its data
directly from the Exchange server... and I thought OWA did too.. but
apparently not.. ?!

When the Notes folder is selected (or any note-type folder), you enable
the Preview Pane and that is what I thought you meant wasn't getting
updated. The contents of the Preview Pane don't change because its view
is static. You have to change focus to a different item and change
focus back to the changed item to see the changes in the Preview Pane.
However, it sounds like you are starting Outlook and then do not see the
modified contents of the note (i.e., you use OWA, modify the note, go to
work, start Outlook, and then look at the note - and then you should see
the modifications).

According to
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA010990461033.aspx,
Security and Content Management section (once expanded), Notes is
support in Outlook but not in OWA. At
http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/evaluation/features/owa2k3_55.mspx,
there isn't even a section for "Notes" as there are for other folder
types.

Since http://www.slipstick.com/exs/owa.htm says Journal folders aren't
supported then maybe Notes folders aren't supported, either. Best place
to ask would be in an Exchange newsgroup since you're only using any
browser to access their OWA server. Presumably the note-type folder is
actually within your message store (i.e., Exchange mailbox) and not a
public folder.

I appreciate your attempt to help me, but I still have no solution to my
problem/question.
Your suggestions don't have much to do with my problem, but to clarify,
Outlook 2003 doesn't have a Preview Pane for the Notes, as far as I can
tell.
OWA does have the Notes available. I didn't do the modification there
however, just looked at the Note in question.
I believe this should be the right News Group, since I don't think it has
anything to do with Exchange, but everything to do with Outlook 2003.
OWA is fine, the problem is my Outlook 2003 locally connected to Exchange
2003. Why isn't this Outlook client getting the latest modifications?!
My remote Outlook client using RPC over HTTPS has the latest, as well as
OWA...

Would really appreciate it if somebody who knows the "behind-the-scenes"
settings/connections for Outlook 2003 and how it caches and connects for the
data on Exchange 2003...

Thanks!
