Hello,

On some of my users, their outlook client will not show new email unless
the user clicks on another folder group in outlook... for example, i have
users with blackberry's... they recieve the email on the blackberry but when
looking at their inbox there is nothing. If they click on contacts or
calendar or anything other than inbox, the inbox will refresh and show a new
message. If the user stays on the inbox veiw, the client WILL NOT show the
new mail.

Has anyone ever come across this before? any solution?

Thanks in advance.

Version of Outlook?
Version of Windows?
Connecting to Exchange (and using BES for Blackberries)?

that's exactly it... as i assumed it was something blocking my UDP transfer,
i was confused as to why it was only some users and not all?

secondly, i'm running exchange 2k with office 2k clients... i installed SP3
and did the registry fix's layed out in this article and the problem
persists...

i wonder if i need to bump down the default polling time? i'm at a loss
here... :(

What is the polling time on the Exchange server? The default is 1 minute.

i cannot seem to find the location to edit the polling time!!!! :)

thanks for your help.... !!!

You might try asking in the Exchange newsgroup. I'm afraid that all I know
is that there *is* a setting in Exchange for this, but I have no idea how to
configure it. Sorry...

The problem you're having is that the information (called "UDP packets")
that Exchange is sending to notify Outlook of changes to your mailbox is
being blocked by something - probably the Windows Internet Connection
Firewall. You can set the registry values in
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q305572 (Outlook
2002) or http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q304849
(Outlook 2000) to cause Outlook to poll Exchange rather than waiting for
notifications.
