Outlook not receiving mail

We have Outlook 2003 running on Windows XP Prof. It is using POP3 to retrieve mail from the ISP. It works most of the time but when mail accumulates on the ISP's server, over the weekend for instance, Outlook stops receiving mail. We have to use web access and clear out some of the the mail before it will work again. Any ideas?
 
Change the timeout settings.

Do you get any error messages when you can't receive mail? If so, what are
they?
