I discovered by accident that Outlook does not shut down
completely when I close it. This has been happening
since I installed Windows XP. Have reviewed everything I
can find, but nothing addresses this issue.

Can anyone give me a clue as to what I can do to resolve
this problem?

I am running XP Pro and O2000 SP3 and had the same
problem.

MS had released an O2000 SP3 Hotfix to fix this. You
have to get it from MS. and I am not sure if it is for
Outlook XP.

I have the hotfix for O2000 SP3 and if you want it could
send it to you.

Outlook 2000 Post-Service Pack 3 Hotfix Package: January
13, 2004.

let me know

I just ran into the same issue today. If you could send me
the Hotfix for Outlook 2000 SP3, I would greatly
appreciate it.

Thank you,

Victor

I'm having the same shutdown problems and really don't feel like
dealing wtih MS support. Any chance you could get a copy of that file
to me? I'd appreciate it greatly. Let me know. Thanks!

Certainly that would be a violation of the EULA associated with the hotfix.

It probably is. But honestly, I don't care. When you (Microsoft) have
a program with a known problem (and a known fix!), and yet you refuse
to make the fix freely available to those of us who have purchased
your defective product, I lose interest in following your EULA. Why do
I have to spend *my* time (on hold), *my* long distance charges and
potentially *my* money (if they decide not to waive the "charges
ordinarily incurred for a support calls") fixing *your* broken
software?

Some may say that there is concern that the fix will introduce more
problems. When has that not been true of a MS patch? I'm not positive,
but I'm pretty sure that they have sufficient disclaimers on their
patches to indemnify them.

Don't get me wrong. Every piece of software we have is legally
licensed, and I usually stay within the bounds of the EULAs (I'm not
claiming to read every line of every EULA either). But I feel there
are times when the EULAs are made to be broken. Call it civil
disobedience.
