Outlook message editing problem

Running Outlook 2000

If I edit a colleagues message, Outlook puts my text in blue, any sentence I
type automatically gets a leading space and it is in a different font.

1. Can I temporarily turn this off on a per-message basis? How?
2. Can I permantely turn this off? How?

I wish to edit in the font, point size, colour of the actual message without
Outlook inserting anything or changing the font charactistics.

I have looked under Tools -> Options but cannot find it under the myriad of
complex options.

Thanks

What it comes down to is I don't care about Style or Style sheets.
I want to work without them and without any of this Intellisense nonsense.
I don't care about "Normal", "Formatted", "Heading 1", "Heading 2" etc

How do I switch all this crap off without losing the ability to select
Fonts, etc that I want?

Thanks

Are you using Word as your editor? Do you have "Tools>Options>E-mail
Options>Mark my comments with" checked?

Now you say it, it does look like Word.
Could I substitute WordPad (which does have Fonts but not Style sheets). If
so, where?

No, it is unchecked.

You have two choices for Outlook's editor: Word and the built-in editor.
The latter can create HTML messages, so formatting is no problem.

Thanks. Where do I go to alter that choice?
I have a sense of deja-vu here as I recall seeing that option, but where?

Thanks. Hrrrmmm well Word is NOT used so that means it is Outlook doing all
intellisense type formatting. How do I shut that off?

Since I would never inflict my formatting on a recipient, I always send in
plain text. Thus, I have no idea how to get rid of what you see, never
having used HTML format for messages.
