Quicker than doing a search as suggested in help. A quick sort by read,
putting unread messages at the top of the mail subdirectory would really be
helpful. Program allows ascending/descending sort option for all other fields
in the mail pane. ksm

You can also do this by sorting on the icon or use a Search Folder.

Tips of the month:
-FREE tool; QuickMail. Create new Outlook items anywhere from within Windows
-Properly back-up and restore your Outlook data

You already have that option. Right click on the message list headers and
choose Field Chooser, Pick 'Read" and add that column.

Check the Unread Mail search folder.

This does not work for messages already filed away in personal folders.

I filter just about everything into folders prior to reading so I have no
recourse here, right?

I don't understand why you can not sort on the "read" icon...

If the message is unread, the Search Folder will locate it no matter what
folder it's in.

Brian,

OK - but my problem is that the "unread" search folder finds all unread
messages in all of my folders.

I want an "unread" folder for each subfolder I have. There are many folders
that I filter to that I really don't care much about and get a lot of
borderline spam to. Using this 'unread search folder" feature is therefore
not very useful to me.

Why not just allow me to sort each folder by read/unread like just about
every other mail utility out there? Patent infringement?!?

Why not just click View>Arrange By>Current View>Unread Messages?
