Outlook keeps trying to send message that isn't in outbox

I have a lot of problems sending messages, especially replies to craigslist
ads. Often, I have to delete the mail in the outbox and recreate it. For
one of these messages, I was able to delete it from the outbox, but Outlook
is still trying to send a message. I have tried all the forum suggestions
such as disabling add-ins and logging the send receive...the log shows no
errors. Near the end of the log it says: 1 message to upload.

I also tried repairing office and looked at every help source I could find.
Of course there is no way to get help from Microsoft unless you have a lot of
time and money and patience. I am trying to avoid the last option of
completely reinstalling office as I downloaded it years ago and have to
figure out if I can still reinstall it.

are you sure its trying to send the message after you deleted it? could it be sending read receipts instead? See

Thanks this was so helpful i had this exact problem where a return receipt
kept trying to send but the ISP kept blocking it for some reason - gave error
553). OutlookSpy fixed it in under 5 minutes. Thanks a million.

I meant to say that the 'read receipt' kept trying to send out but was being
blocked by the isp ....and also that the error 553 is specific to the isp,
who is rogers - in canada.
