Outlook keeps downloading old mail from my POP accounts

About once or twice a week, Outlook starts downloading old mail from my POP
accounts. I want to stop this, but I can't. Usually it is at least a week's
worth of emails and it takes a very long time to download. It is definitely
an Outlook problem, not my ISP, because the two POP accounts have different
providers.

How can I stop Outlook from downloading old email? Please help!
 
Is any email antivirus active?
You can purge that online store and Outlook will think all have been dealt
with. I'd say it's possibly that your download has been interrupted and
therefore reset. Antivirus integration can do this.
