Outlook is sending 2 messages that I can't see

When I try to send a message, Outlook says "Sending message 1 of 3" - even
though there is only one. I do not send read receipts, and there is nothing
else in my outbox. The first message goes quickly, the second takes a long
time, and I have always cancelled befor it has had a chance to complete, the
third is my, small message. But because I stop the second one from going, my
message will not be sent.

If these invisible messages actually exist, then the second must have a
hefty attachment. So I assume it might be something malicious. or maybe
something outlook does automatically. Even though message 1 gets sent there
is no record of it in sent items.

Anyone had this before? What is it? What can I do?

Do you have a virus scanner that integrates with Outlook?

If not try Panda Antivirus and PestPatrol. I believe they both have free Web
scans that you can run. It certainly sounds suspicious. Do you see the
messages in the Sent items folder. If so, check them about (not by opening),
but by right-clicking the message and then clicking Options. This will allow
to see the Internet Headers and find out where the message is going. Might
give you some clues. Sounds suspicious, so good luck!
