Hi,

Using HTTPs to connect to hosted exchange, have one client
that will not connect. Whenever I attempt to connect to
the server to check the name. I get the login dialog
prompt and enter the correct information. As soon as I
enter the information I recieve an error message stating
that there is insufficient memory to complete the task. I
was able to connect to the server using the users
credentials so that is not the issue.

User is running WinXP MCE and Outlook 2003 sp1 with the
HTTPs patch installed.

Thank you in advance,

Joe

Yeah, I trashed the profile, and Started a new one. I also
repaired office, uninstalled office, reinstalled office
and the service pack for office.

Locate outcmd.dat and rename it to .old to reset the Toolbar. Also make sure
that there are no add-ins loaded and that the virusscanner integration has
been disabled.

Outlook is starting fine under other profiles that were
pointing to a local exchange box. It was just the HTTPs
profile that was giving the error. Oddly enough I went up
there today to try your suggestions and before I tried
rename the file I recreated the profile again and this
time it worked, go figure. As far as I know nothing had
changed on the machine, it had just been off for the last
14 hours or so.

Thank you for your replies they are much appreciated.

Oddly enough I was configuring another computer for a new
user and got the same error, now this computer had worked
fine under its previous user.

I think this is a "bug", for lack of a better term at the
moment, with the check name feature when using HTTP mail
before you actually configure the "connect using HTTP"
portion.

The sequence of events to generate the error is something
like this, I may try to reproduce this if I get some
downtime later.

1. Create a new profile
2. Enter the mail server
3. Enter the mailbox name
4. Click check name
5. Enter username and password, click ok, it chugged along
for a moment or two and then blew up with the insufficient
memory this name could not be resolved error. It also
generated a error on the mail config control panel.

This is all done before you go into the "more settings" to
configure the HTTP connect portion.

Theorizing a bit here but I think that maybe its blowing
up when it does a name lookup and sees the mail server on
the internet but isnt going over the right port so the
connection is refused and it just pukes.

Anyway seems like an interesting problem to me and I
always liked interesting problems.

Ok so I got bored, using the same machine, I logged in as
myself and created a new profile and got the same error.
The exact error message is:

"Outlook could not log on. Check to make sure you are
connected to the network and are using the proper server
and mailbox name. The Operation could not be completed to
do insufficient memory. Close one or more applications to
make mroe memory available."

I tried to open outlook and get the MS Exchange server is
offline message. Computer is connected to the network and
running fine otherwise.
