When I minimize Outlook, it goes to the taskbar only, with no icon in the
notification area. I want it to go to the notification area only upon
minimization, not to the taskbar. I read other posts, and tried customizing
my taskbar through right clicking on it and choosing the behavior for
different programs, but Outlook didn't appear in that list, so I was unable
to change its settings. Is there something I need to do to make Outlook
appear in that list so I can follow the other instructions that I have read
on here to make it minimize into the notification area?

If this is Windows XP, it could be that the icon is being hidden.
RIght-click the task bar, choose Properties, then Customize. Locate the
Microsoft Office Outlook icon and click the behavior to the right, choosing
Always Show. Click OK, then OK.

I did that already after looking at other posts on here. My problem is that
there is no Microsoft Outlook icon in the list where you can change
behaviors. The little envelope that notifies you when you have new mail is
there, but there is nothing there for Outlook itself. If I can figure out
why that isn't there, I can do the rest. So my question remains why isn't
that icon there, and how do I get it to appear on that list.
