Outlook Hotmail and WebDAV

I have used Outlook to access my Hotmail account for years. I am still able
to do so using Outlook 2007 on my primary laptop.

I recently installed Windows XP on a virtual PC with Office 2003/Outlook
2003 but I am not able to access Hotmail using Outlook 2003 on that PC.
Whenever I try to open Outlook, I get the standard Outlook password screen
where I enter the password for my Hotmail account. The password is actually
already there as indicated by the dots in the text box. I have tried using
what was there, re-entering it, tried it even blank but no matter what I do,
when I click OK on the password box Outlook just continuously gives me the
password box again.

I am sure the password is correct; it still works on my laptop and I am able
to sign-in to Hotmail using the same account and password using Internet
Explorer 7 on the Virtual PC as well.

Is this a limitation of running Outlook on a Virtual PC?

I have read that Outlook uses WebDAV to connect to Hotmail. Is there
something I could have done in the installation of Windows or Office that
would either have misconfigured or not installed WebDAV? Could this be
causing the problem I am having?

Thanks for any assistance,

Dale

Have you installed the HTTP update as well? When you go to Windows Update
press Custom and you should see it as an additional update.

Roady,

Thanks for the tip. That was the solution. It took me about 5 hours of
fooling around because of issues with Microsoft Update (but that's another
story) but when I finally got it installed all began working as expected.
