I'm using Outlook 2k3 and Windows 2k. Outlook was hanging up
and after reading the newsgroup postings I went into my personal
personal settings folder and renamed outcmd.dat and outlook.srs.
I then did a hard reboot since a soft reboot didn't work.
After that Outlook worked but after quickly clicking on another email
while a different one was opening the same thing is happening. I'm using
word as an email editor but that didn't give me any problems before. Also, I
earlier tried the
repair option under help but that didn't do any thing, although I didn't try
that this
time. Any suggestions. Help!!!

I am having the same problem, why did you reanmet the file .srs , just
curious and trying to learn. someone else told me to rename to .old, does
this accomplish the same thing.

The profilename.SRS file is the Send/Receive Settings file for Outlook.
Renaming that file or deleting it will reset the Send/Receive settings to
default, since Outlook will create that file if it doesn't exist.

Thanks Brian:
I always wondered what .srs stood for. By renaming the .dat and .srs files
windows did recreate them on the next boot. I renamed them badoutcmd.dat and
badoutlook.srs, so perhaps they would feel ashamed and stop giving me
trouble. This renaming and rebooting works about 80 percent of the time. For
the other times there are couple of other posts under the search term
"Outlook hangs" that have a few other suggestions that invariably work.
