Outlook Hanging

I have XP SP2 installed on my Dell desktop. About a month ago, Outlook
started hanging when first starting it up and now when switching between
emails, it takes sometimes a minute for the newly selected one to be
displayed. I've run the Inbox repair tool and it did not find any problems.
I am not aware of any changes made to the computer that I can attribute to
this. I will be upgrading to 2007 soon but would really like to figure out
what is causing this. Is there anything I can do to figure it out?

Sometimes that's a symptom of a very large "Personal Information Store" Your
file is probably named "Outlook.PST". Build a new one and test your
performance. If you get the improvement you want, you might consider backing
up to an archive file, importing the current stuff to the new one, and access
the old stuff as needed.
"A big file" is a relative term, since bytes would relate to machine
ability. If none of that is relative to your problem, you might try storing
some of your mail in folders other than the Inbox. In any case, the first
thing to do at a sign of trouble is to archive your mail.

Mark:

I have created a new account and even without any email in the Inbox it
still has the same problem. I also did an Archive like you suggested and it
may have helped a little but the problem is still noticeable.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
-Paul
