Outlook freezes when I try to insert an attachment

I am suddenly unable to insert an attachment of any kind with an email. The
program freezes and I lose the text of the message as well.

Hi -

When you post in here, always include your version, SP level, and mode (if
applicable) of Outlook - you can find this information in Help | About. Also
include the type of mail account(s) you use and any other pertinent details.
Also mention whether you're using Word as e-mail editor.
